Few weeks ago, I visited Bugis Junction shopping mall, which is located at Bugis, Singapore. Before I chao, I tapao some lovely donuts from J.CO Donuts & Coffee. And, you know what, you don’t need to queue up for looooooong time in order to get your donuts…. not like Pavillion at Kuala Lumpur (KL), you always have to wait 30 ~ 45 mins queue…. Anyway, their (Malaysia & Singapore J.Co Donuts) taste are still the same&delicious…. a good thumb by keeping the quality… ^-^v

Anyway, what is PoPiah?
Popiah (薄饼 / 潤餅) is a Hokkien/Chaozhou-style fresh spring roll common in Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia. Popiah is often eaten in the Fujian province of China and its neighboring Chaozhou on the Qingming Festival. It is sometimes referred to as ‘run bing’ or ‘bao bing’.
.
A popiah “skin” is a thin paper-like crepe or pancake made from wheat flour (rice flour is sometimes used) which is covered with a sweet sauce (often a bean sauce, a blended soy sauce or hoisin sauce or a shrimp paste sauce (hae-ko, POJ: hê-ko)), and optionally with hot chilli sauce before it is filled. The filling is mainly finely grated and steamed or stir-fried turnip, jicama (known locally as bangkuang), which has been cooked with a combination of other ingredients such as bean sprouts, French beans, and lettuce leaves, depending on the individual vendor, along with grated carrots, slices of Chinese sausage, thinly sliced fried tofu, chopped peanuts or peanut powder, fried shallots, and shredded omelette. Some hawkers, especially in non-halal settings, will add fried pork lard. As a fresh spring roll, the popiah skin itself is not fried.
.
In China, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan there are “popiah parties,” where the ingredients are laid out and guests make their own popiah with proportions of ingredients to their own personal liking.
.
Similar foods in other cuisines include the Filipino/Indonesian variant referred to as Lumpiang Sariwa, fried spring rolls and fajitas (Tex-Mex). In Vietnam, bò bía is the Vietnamese variant of popiah, introduced by Teochew immigrants. It is a common sight to see an old Teochew man or woman selling bò bía at their roadside stand.

What is Durian?
.
The durian (IPA: [ˈd(j)ʊriən, -ɑn])[1] is the fruit of trees from the genus Durio belonging to the Malvaceae, a large family which includes hibiscus, okra, cotton, mallows, and linden trees. Widely known and revered in Southeast Asia as the “King of Fruits”, the fruit is distinctive for its large size, unique odour, and formidable thorn-covered husk. The fruit can grow up to 30 centimetres (12 in) long and 15 centimetres (6 in) in diameter, and typically weighs one to three kilograms (2 to 7 lb). Its shape ranges from oblong to round, the colour of its husk green to brown, and its flesh pale-yellow to red, depending on the species.

What is Mangosteen?
.
The mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a tropical evergreen tree, believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands and the Moluccas. The tree grows from 7 to 25 m (20-80 ft) tall. The rind (exocarp) of the edible fruit is deep reddish purple when ripe. Botanically an aril, the fragrant edible flesh can be described as sweet and tangy, citrusy with peach flavor and texture. Mangosteen is closely related to other edible tropical fruits such as button mangosteen and lemondrop mangosteen. Botanically, it bears no relation to the mango.

Why Durian is King, and Mangosteen is Queen le?
.
Durian is quite “busuk (smelly)” for most of the people, and it is a “hot” stuff for your body. Persons, who eat Durian, are easily fall sick/cough/nose bleeding/high fever or even die if you consume beer at the same time. Well, Mangosteen is sweet and “cold” stuff. It cold down your body especially when you feel “heat” in your body. So, if you eat both at the same time, it will be the great combination, and become neutral… ![]()
.
Normally, your mouth and hand are smelly after you consume Durian…. sometimes, you feel struggle to remove the smell le…. now, I teach you an easy way to remove those smell… observed/learnt from one of my friend..
